LEE’S FOUNDATION CHESS FESTIVAL 2022


The First LFI Chess Festival with organized by Lee’s Foundation International tagged “The first Move” was held on the 29th -30th July 2022 which aims to share the beauty of chess with 2 million people by 2025, to connect and enjoy chess-related activities on the day of the festival.

Chess can be a sport, experience, educational method, special connection or the common language. Most importantly, Lee’s foundation employs the chess program as a huge form of education, social development, networking fun.

LFI Chess Festival which was in partnership with Synch hub which drew the attention of both chess and non-chess players who wanted to be in a creative space which the hub provided.

Participants of every kind enjoyed the celebration of chess with the view  from celebrities, sportspeople, artists, scientists, businesspeople to chess fans and – above all – children. \”The passion for the game is the link between generations that teaches both young and old perseverance, logical thinking and respect.\” 

A two day all entertaining programs hosting visitors at the LFI Chess Festival including professional chess tournaments, simultaneous chess games, art shows, educational conferences and various entertaining activities.

LFI Chess Festival was offering 2 full-day experience built around the mystical board game of chess. Lee’s Foundation invited everyone around the world to connect in chess related activities, sportsManship, arts, culture and entertainment. 

Lee’s Foundation turned on the lights, illuminating new dimension of how chess shapes our lives, showing its social, scientific, educational, artistic and sporting connections. 

The LFI chess Festival also featured a chess Tournament with an unusual knock out format leaving Abdulahi Adamu as the winner with a take-home prize of $200, consolation prizes were also presented to 2nd, 3rd and 4th position. Special talent, best male, the youngest talent. This was an opportunity for top chess players to come and not just partake in a board game but also use this as an avenue to socialize and network with non-chess players.

A question-and-answer forum was also a major attraction, it gave the participants and audience and panel a platform to discuss the challenges Africa as a nation faces in educating young people about chess from grass root to youth level up to Grandmaster level, hygiene in sport and social education.

Lee’s Foundation also employed these as a medium to sensitize people about their ongoing programs and campaigns concerning menstrual hygiene management, washing of hands and the effect of environmental pollution in the society. 

On the backdrop of a strategic, intellectual and entertaining Festival Lee’s Foundation also introduce its  “ + 1 Education and Empowerment program (+1 EEP)  which focuses on training educating and empowering youth  the age of 14 – 32 to not  just becoming entrepreneurs or business intellects but also to enhance their mentality and increase the horizon of how far their minds can go ,the things and limit they can achieve , how they can extend benevolence and see it as a duty towards the needy in their community and above all transferring their knowledge to their +1

The festival will be done annually, which gives everyone including the foundation ample time for more innovative preparation.
